Hydroxytyrosol / Olive Polyphenols
Olea europaea (polyphenol fraction)
Hydroxytyrosol from olives has the highest ORAC antioxidant capacity of any plant compound and shows selective anti-cancer activity against breast, colon, and prostate cancers through EGFR inhibition and pro-apoptotic effects. Mediterranean populations consuming high olive oil have significantly lower cancer incidence. Extra-virgin olive oil provides the highest hydroxytyrosol content.
