Wakame contains fucoxanthin, a unique marine carotenoid with potent anti-tumour activity against breast, colon, and prostate cancers. Japanese women who consume high amounts of seaweed including wakame have lower rates of breast cancer. Wakame also provides iodine (essential for thyroid function during cancer treatment), fucoidan, and omega-3 fatty acids.
