These profiles are educational and cultural โ they document living healing traditions, not endorsements. Traditional healing should complement, not replace, conventional cancer treatment. Some plants interact with chemotherapy drugs โ always inform your oncologist of anything you are taking. These are representative profiles of real traditions; contact through local community networks or NGOs in that region to find a specific practitioner.
A note on traditional knowledge
Traditional healing systems predate modern medicine by thousands of years and have sustained communities through conditions that conventional medicine did not yet exist to treat. Many modern drugs โ taxol (yew tree), vincristine (periwinkle), aspirin (willow bark), artemisinin (sweet wormwood) โ were discovered through ethnobotanical leads from traditional healers. The knowledge documented here deserves respect, not dismissal. It also deserves critical evaluation โ some traditional preparations are genuinely helpful, some are neutral, and some can cause harm in specific contexts. The goal of this section is honest, informed documentation.
