Earthing / Grounding Therapy
Earthing (grounding) involves direct skin contact with the Earth's surface — barefoot walking on soil/grass, or using conductive grounding mats/sheets connected to the Earth. The Earth's surface maintains a negative electrical charge; electrons flow into the body on contact, acting as antioxidants. Peer-reviewed studies show grounding reduces cortisol, CRP (inflammation marker), improves sleep, reduces pain, and normalises circadian rhythm disruption — all highly relevant to cancer patients.
Mechanism of Action
The Earth's surface is electrically conductive and maintains a slightly negative charge (electron reservoir). Free electrons from the Earth neutralise free radicals in the body — the same mechanism as antioxidants but delivered directly. Additionally, connection to Earth's Schumann resonance (7.83 Hz) may synchronise biological rhythms. Grounding reduces zeta potential of blood cells, reducing blood viscosity and improving circulation.

Protocols & Dosing
Outdoor Barefoot Walking
30–60 min barefoot on natural ground (grass, soil, sand, concrete) daily. Avoid rubber-soled shoes. Most accessible and free form of earthing.
Grounding Mat / Sheet
Conductive mat placed under desk or bed, connected via grounding cord to Earth socket. Sleep on grounding sheet. Use 6–8 hours nightly for restorative effect during sleep.
Swimming in Natural Water
Swimming in sea, lake, or river provides full-body grounding. Even 30 min provides significant anti-inflammatory electron transfer.

Cautions & Contraindications
- Generally extremely safe — no known harms at normal exposure
- Grounding mats must be properly installed via genuine earth ground — not floating electrical ground
- Avoid grounding in electrical storms — lightning risk outdoors
- Quality grounding products vary — ensure genuine conductivity
- Evidence for direct anti-cancer effects is theoretical/indirect — do not replace conventional treatment
