Anti-tumourmoderate evidence
Punarnavine (an alkaloid from Punarnava) shows anti-tumour activity against breast, liver, and colon cancer cells and induces cancer cell death through autophagy — a distinct mechanism from conventional apoptosis. Punarnava is used in Ayurveda to reduce tumour-associated oedema and as a lymphatic and kidney tonic.
