Flaxseed / Linseed
Linum usitatissimum
Flaxseed is the richest plant source of lignans (SDG) converted by gut bacteria into enterolignans that modulate oestrogen metabolism. Multiple clinical studies show flaxseed reduces tumour proliferation in breast cancer and slows PSA doubling in prostate cancer. Alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) also has direct anti-tumour activity.
